Industries / Repeatability at scale

Colocation providers

Make every customer build easier to operate

Colocation delivery brings provider processes, customer requirements and multiple suppliers into a shared facility. O-Connect coordinates the physical build around those boundaries, from installation readiness through documented acceptance. A consistent method makes each work package easier to schedule, inspect and hand over while retaining the details that distinguish one customer environment from another.

The brief

Repeatable execution across distinct customer boundaries

Each build begins with a clear demarcation between the facility, the customer and other delivery partners. We confirm the approved rack allocation, power presentation, connectivity handoff, labelling convention and access process. Provider-controlled tasks and customer decisions are identified separately in the work plan, so a missing cross-connect or unreleased space has an accountable owner.

The installation record then follows the provider's agreed delivery standard. Equipment positions, cable routes and port assignments are captured at the required level of detail, with exceptions visible through completion. Where a programme spans several rooms or sites, a shared checklist supports consistency while each location retains its own access, readiness and customer acceptance requirements.

Scope & deliverables

What the work covers.

Customer build work package

A scoped installation package defining the allocated space, approved equipment layout, access requirements and demarcation between provider, customer and third-party activities within the facility.

Connection handoff register

A record of agreed connectivity endpoints and responsible parties, linking the installed cabling to provider or customer handoffs and identifying outstanding dependencies before acceptance.

Consistent installation records

Rack elevations, asset identifiers, cable labels and completion checks assembled to the agreed provider format, supporting review across individual customer builds and larger deployment programmes.

Customer acceptance pack

A closeout package containing scoped test results, installation records and open items, ready for the provider and customer to review against their agreed delivery requirements.

Delivery approach

A clear path through the work.

  1. Confirm the delivery boundaries

Align the provider, customer and delivery partners on scope, site release, access and handoffs, with explicit ownership of dependencies that sit outside the fieldwork package.

  2. Build to the site standard

Complete the approved installation and cabling activities using the facility's agreed processes, checking labels, routes and asset records as each work area reaches completion.

  3. Close the customer handoff

Review the build and acceptance records with the responsible parties, reconcile outstanding connections and assign any remaining actions before the customer environment enters operational support.

Consistency the provider and customer can both see

The provider receives a documented customer build with clear boundaries and a repeatable record of completion. The customer receives visibility into the infrastructure delivered and the conditions of acceptance. Both teams can identify outstanding dependencies and move support questions to the right owner after handover.

Planning questions

Before the work begins.

Can you work to an existing colocation delivery standard?

Yes. The work package can use the provider's approved installation, labelling, access and closeout requirements. We review those requirements before delivery and record any project-specific differences, so the receiving teams know which standard applies to each customer build and its documentation.

How are cross-connect responsibilities handled?

The connection handoff and responsible party are agreed before execution. Provider-managed cross-connect work remains with the authorised provider team unless explicitly included in scope. We track the dependency, document the relevant endpoints and coordinate the connection checks required for the customer build.

Can one delivery method cover multiple sites?

A common work package and acceptance format can support a multi-site programme. Each location still needs its own readiness review, access arrangements and dependency owners. Local variations are recorded so consistency in reporting does not obscure the conditions affecting an individual site.
